We love Evernote
For the first post about something other than ourselves, we felt like doing a little project for one of our favorite companies.
Fictive Kin loves Evernote. We use it all the time. I have become particularly dependent on the iPhone application. As I returned to the site to get the Firefox extension and then ultimately the desktop app, I kept noticing that the website quality didn’t really live up to that of the various other applications in the Evernote universe.
It needs a Redesign
Evernote has reached a major milestone in its existence. They just raised some big bucks and now have a very serious user base. While I imagine the early adopters just read about the product on some blog and downloaded Evernote without much thought, I expect that the new users will need a little more guidance through the process of understanding Evernote, its potential value, and why they should sign up.
We thought it would be fun to take a step in that direcetion, so we redesigned their home page. We focused on bringing grid-based design to the forefront and putting an increased focus on user goals. You can see what we came up with below. There is also a pdf that explains in greater detail what needed improvement and how the new site attempts to better address the needs of Evernote and its users.
Download the PDF for a detailed description of why we made the various changes to the site.
